Justin Canale Dead At 68

Justin Canale passed away on October 11, 2011 in Memphis, Tennessee. Justin played both seasons for the Memphis Southmen and was very instrumental in helping to organize the 2004 Memphis Southmen WFL reunion. Prior to joining the Memphis Southmen, Justin played for the Boston Patriots (1965-68) and Cincinnnati Bengals (1969) of the AFL and the Montreal Alouettes (1970-72) of the CFL, and was a member of their 1970 Grey Cup team. Below is his obituary from the Memphis Commercial Appeal:

Dominic Justin Canale, 68, passed away October 11, 2011. Justin was born in Memphis, TN on April 11, 1943. He attended Mississippi State University where he participated in football and track while earning his Bachelor of Science degree in 1965. He was preceded in death by his father, George Anthony II, mother, Augusta, and brothers, George and Whit. He is survived by his siblings, Frank (Scottie) Canale of Union City, TN, Mary Arnette (Cole) Michaels of Haymarket, VA, Billy (Margaret) Canale of Memphis, TN, and Conn Canale of Memphis, TN; as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday, October 14, from 5-7 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at Canale Funeral Directors, 2700 Union Ext., Memphis, TN. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, October 15, 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 8151 Poplar Avenue, Germantown, TN 38138. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
