What a character Bob Colonna was. We always poked fun at him, to his face and behind his back. But everybody loved the guy.

He'd come strutting...well maybe waddling...through the lockerroom giving guys "quack quack quack" grief, sounding like Burgess Meredith as The Penguin.

But beneath that hard exterior was a heart of gold. I remember how he'd come walking past my locker before a game, sorta walk a half step by...then turn. He'd have two pairs of new socks. He'd give them to me grumbling something about how he "just happened to have them, here Cooper, take them off my hands will ya? But NO STEALING, hear me, I want them back? Geez...kicker..." But I knew it was his way of motivating me.

Rest well, Bob. I'm sure the equipment room where you are needs some organization...
Football combines the two worst things about America: it is violence punctuated by committee meetings.
