What a classy guy. I remember how he'd drive to practice in his Ferrari Daytona, impeccably dressed and coiffed, babe on his arm.
I didn't have much interaction with him but sat next to him at some newspaper banquet thing. Seemed like a super nice man.
Several years after the league folded, I called his office and spoke briefly to him. I needed a solid referral for a grad assistant coaching job, and he called the AD at the school within minutes to give me one. I was grateful.
