Deceased Name: Elbert 'Howard' Strickland
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Elbert "Howard" Strickland, 57, of Albuquerque, N.M.,
formerly of East Moline, died Friday, October 22, 2010, in Albuquerque.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 9, 2010, from 4 to 7 p.m. at
Sullivan-Phillips Mortuary, Ltd., East Moline. Services will be 11 a.m.
Wednesday, November 10 at Mt. Zion Missionary Church, East Moline. Rev. P. W.
Harris will officiate.
Howard was born December 20, 1952, in Chicago, Ill., to Willie and Nadine
(McClenton) Strickland. He graduated from United Township High School in 1971
and University of Southern California in 1975. He was a professional football
player first with the San Diego Chargers, the L.A. Rams, Green Bay Packers and
10 years with the Muskies in the Canadian Football League, and also was a
transit driver for the city of Albuquerque. He married Denise Gauntt in Chicago
on April 29, 1985.
He is survived by his wife, Denise, of Albuquerque; children, Jeremy and Maceo
Strickland, both of East Moline, Tre Strickland, of Texas, Kaiesha and Ashley
Strickland, both of Arkansas; three grandchildren; brother, Christopher
Strickland; sisters, Cynthia Braggs and Arletta Holmes, both of East Moline, and
DeBorah (Alfred) Davis, Silvis, Ill.; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
